Park Slope

Yes, I’m making the right of passage, crusade, stroll, gentrified amble, or whatever you’d like to call it to Park Slope.  Is this surprising to anyone?  The place is amazing…

(I like Sean Nelson, but I think Pike St./Park Slope has it all wrong.  Dick.)

Some Are Lakes

It’s time to start drumming up interest in Land of Talk once again. Anyone that follows this paltry blog knows how fond I am of them. So here’s a new Land of Talk video for you to chew on.

Some Are Lakes (Live Acoustic)

AND a new Land of Talk song: Some Are Lakes (Studio Acoustic)

I’ve heard the METAL (non-acoustic) version a couple of times and it’s got me jazzed just thinking of the pending Bon Iver produced full length LP hopefully due any day now.

New York Noise

For everyone that doesn’t live in NYC, and for those too transfixed with Bravo to dial your TV down to 25, you’re missing out on my FAVORITE TV station. NYC TV is full of shows exploring the culture, history, and majesty of New York City. There’s no better example of this than New York Noise (not.) Chock full of music videos and mid-to-low production quality interviews/features, New York Noise is constantly entertaining and worthy of anyone’s TiVo space. New York Noise is now streaming from the NYC TV website: http://www.nyc.gov/html/nycmg/nyctv/html/music/nynoise.shtml

NYC TV has made a name for themselves as a channel that is not cool to watch for being cool, and not cool to watch for being ironic. There’s no better example of their over-trying hipness than their (un)fortunately titled show “Eat Out New York.” It’s like restaurant porn, but NYC TV is very aware of their target audience (me) so they don’t make any of it unapproachable. There’s something to be said about watching your neighborhood or your favorite burger joint on TV.

Between Days EP

Between Days EP (34mb)

Longer than most of my mixes.  Half the tracks.  These are the songs that don’t mux with my mix, but hold a place in my heart.  Originally posted 18 months ago this was the least-downloaded mix I’ve posted, so I feel like it needs a second chance — although I do understand that 8+minute tracks are a bit off-putting.

01 Belle & Sebastian - Don’t Leave the Light on Baby
02 Death Cab for Cutie - Prove My Hypotheses
03 Matt Pond PA - Other Countries
04 Red House Painters - Between Days
05 The Flaming Lips - Feeling Yourself Disintegrate
06 Hammock - Blankets Of Night
